TV wall mounting in Bronte

Bronte 2024's federation and Edwardian cottages are full of beautiful walls that are not, strictly speaking, friendly to TV mounts. Lath-and-plaster on timber stud is the dominant construction in older Bronte homes β€” and toggle bolts alone aren't enough for a 65" set.

From $180per TV β€” Standard plasterboard mounts from $180; brick or tile from $240; in-wall cable run from $80 extra.

What's included

  • βœ“Wall mounting on plasterboard, brick, concrete, tile
  • βœ“Fixed, tilt, and full-motion bracket installation
  • βœ“In-wall cable concealment (where wall type allows)
  • βœ“Soundbar and centre-speaker mounting
  • βœ“TV setup and basic wall-mount-mode configuration

Bronte context

What tv wall mounting looks like in Bronte

Lath-and-plaster walls are deceptive β€” they look solid until you start drilling and the lath splits along the grain, leaving you with a rattling cavity behind a perfectly fine front face. We mount through to the timber studs with structural lag screws and add a backing plate behind the plaster face for any TV over 50". On Bronte's beach houses along Bronte Marine Drive, salt-air ingress is also a factor β€” we use the same stainless-arm bracket spec we use in beachfront Bondi suburbs.

Recent Bronte job

Recent: 55" Hisense in a federation cottage off Bronte Road. Discovered the planned wall location was three studs across with a deteriorating plaster face β€” moved 200mm to a sounder bay, two structural lag screws plus a hardwood backing plate, and the original picture rail re-fitted unmarked. Two and a half hours.

Our process β€” same standard, every booking

  1. 1

    Locate studs and services

Stud finder plus knowledge of where Bondi sparkies usually run cables. We don't drill blind.

  2. 2

    Mount square

Bracket levelled to the laser, not the (usually crooked) skirting.

  3. 3

    Tidy cables

In-wall conduit run on plasterboard; trunking on solid walls.

TV Wall Mounting questions, answered

  • Can you hide the cables in the wall?
On plasterboard, almost always. On brick or concrete, we use trunking instead β€” neat but not invisible.
  • What size TV can a Bondi apartment plasterboard wall hold?
Up to ~75" with proper fixings into studs. Heavier than that, we anchor through to the masonry behind.
  • Will you mount a TV I bought online?
Yes β€” bring it out of the box and have the bracket ready. We supply standard brackets if needed.
