Bondi Junction context

What tv wall mounting looks like in Bondi Junction

Most Bondi Junction towers built between 1985 and 2010 use post-tensioned concrete for both party walls and exterior shear walls — drilling without first scanning for tendons risks a serious failure. We use a wall-scan device on every concrete drilling job above the third floor. The plasterboard partitions inside the unit are normally on steel stud at 600mm centres, which won't take a heavy TV without through-toggling. Strata bylaws in most blocks restrict drilling to 9am–5pm Mon–Sat — we book accordingly and arrive with a building pass and our certificate of currency.

Recent Bondi Junction job

Recent: 65" QLED on an apartment-side concrete wall in an Oxford Street tower. Wall-scanned to confirm no tendons, four 10mm SDS holes, M8 chemical anchors, in-wall HDMI run via the existing electrical chase to the entertainment unit. Strata building manager signed off the same afternoon.

Our process — same standard, every booking

  1. 1

    Locate studs and services

Stud finder plus knowledge of where Bondi sparkies usually run cables. We don't drill blind.

  2. 2

    Mount square

Bracket levelled to the laser, not the (usually crooked) skirting.

  3. 3

    Tidy cables

In-wall conduit run on plasterboard; trunking on solid walls.

TV Wall Mounting questions, answered

  • Can you hide the cables in the wall?
On plasterboard, almost always. On brick or concrete, we use trunking instead — neat but not invisible.
  • What size TV can a Bondi apartment plasterboard wall hold?
Up to ~75" with proper fixings into studs. Heavier than that, we anchor through to the masonry behind.
  • Will you mount a TV I bought online?
Yes — bring it out of the box and have the bracket ready. We supply standard brackets if needed.
